At its core, Nandini Devang Pathak’s social venture is about rewriting the script that girls inherit upon birth. Instead of “Stay quiet,” she offers: “Your Voice Matters.” This is because Nandini believes that sometimes, the most powerful change begins with simply being heard. In classrooms, homes and social spaces across the world, countless young girls grow up hearing quiet but powerful messages in the form of “Don’t talk too much” or “This isn’t for you to speak to.” Over time, Nandini has observed that those messages shape how young girls see themselves and limit their confidence, ability to express themselves and sense of self-worth. Nandini is determined to change that narrative through her social venture project centered on storytelling and digital dialogue and launched in the accessible form of a podcast.

Through her research, Nandini discovered that girls’ confidence drops significantly by nearly 30% between late childhood and early adolescence. During these formative years, many girls tend to begin holding back their opinions simply to be liked or accepted in society. This decline in the confidence of young girls is not accidental and is fueled by deep-rooted gender stereotypes, social conditioning around gender roles, limited relatable role models for girls and a lack of safe spaces and platforms for expression. Over time, silence becomes internalized and leadership feels out of reach, leading to a decline in participation overall. Through her venture, Nandini is envisioning creating a safe and relatable platform where young girls, particularly between the ages of 13 and 18 can heard real stories from women have faced and overcome similar barriers. Her initiative is rooted in one simple but powerful belief: when girls hear voices like theirs, they begin to find their own.

Nandini’s project is built through a carefully designed logic model that maps change from short-term validation to long-term societal transformation. Her work also aligns closely with SDG 5: Gender Equality as her project directly connects to SDGs 5.1 (ending discrimination against women and girls) and 5.5 (ensuring full participation and leadership opportunities). She remains realistic about the challenges, acknowledging that girls without reliable internet access or private listening spaces may face barriers to accessing her platform. However, by using digital platforms to amplify women’s voices, Nandini’s initiative merges storytelling with technology and makes empowerment for women and girls accessible, relatable and scalable.

By turning personal stories into collective strength, Nandini is not just launching a podcast but cultivating a movement. One where girls see themselves reflected, feel less alone and step forward into their futures with confidence.
